The British Online Newspaper MailOnline reported in an article, Porn mogul plans hotel chains where guests stay for free... so long as they agree to have sex sessions broadcast on the web, on November 7, 2010 that entrepreneur Berth Milton, Jr. plans to open a hundred sex hotels in hotspots around the world. The article further states that while guests will stay for free, Milton speculates porn lovers will pay to watch members of the public having sex. The news has received some limited coverage in the U.S., for example USA Today posted on their site on November 7, 2010 Porn mogul proposes luxury porn hotels.
Berth Milton, Jr. is the CEO of Private Media and his father was credited for creating hardcore porn. His son who stepped into his foot steps believes that this new concept will be a gold mine and he is probably right. In this world of reality TV and YouTube, voyeurism is in its prime and if one can believe Milton, the world is ripe for this.
“The numbers are astonishing,” quotes MailOnline, calculating that a single hotel could generate $43.8 million a year in subscription fees from voyeurs watching from computers around the world.” According to Milton, his sex hotel concept will succeed because they will be so graphic and people will look back and see his plans as the start of something massive.
More tasteless content on the Internet
One has to ask, does an already corrupted society really need more tasteless content at their fingertips? Some would probably think so. Further, does this open the door to legalized prostitution? Others certainly would object.
In fact, in the article Milton compares his ideas with those of Bill Gates. Milton apparently has conducted extensive field research at swinger’s clubs in Spain. So, it is an opportunity to watch real people have sex. But do we really need to see Sally and Jo have sex?
The most ridiculous Milton quote in the MailOnline article, however, has to be the following: “'It has to be a hotel for non-swingers as well - not super-explicit where everybody's running around naked. That takes the style and class out of it.” Really? It makes one wonder what his definition of class is. It is worrisome, as the world has turned into one big reality show, and a luxury sex hotel chain isn’t causing more outrage. What has the world come to and isn't there a limit and a point where society should start caring again about how money is made instead of giving up on morals?
